Exceptional Pearls: A Good Business Strategy

Unique, Top Quality Pearls Sell Despite the Economy

London Pearls 17 mm to 20 mm South Sea cultured pearl strand.
London Pearls 17 mm to 20 mm South Sea cultured pearl strand.

Pearls have it all – tradition, selection, uniqueness, beauty, versatility, and rarity coupled with profit margin, turn, and distinction for your market. Leading pearl suppliers at Baselworld describe pearls as the most accessible gem in that they offer great value for the investment, as top quality always sells.
Trends in pearls today are for the unique, different and exceptional, cites Daniel Vecht, London Pearl, which has moved this year from Hall 3 to Hall 2 (2.2, A51). “Customers who have money and want to spend it are looking for items that stand out. Who wants to walk into a dinner party having spent 100,000 U.S. dollars on a pearl strand or jewellery only to find someone else with a similar piece”.
According to Vecht, the demand for unique items is very strong, while sales for mid market basic white necklaces have been slow. “There is currently a massive shortage in larger white necklaces. There is almost no production of really big sizes. Necklaces with 19 mm or 20 mm centre pearls are very scarce on the supply side. When we have one it sells almost immediately,” he says, citing a multi-colour necklace he had with a 19 mm centre that sold within 48 hours. “I expect this trend to continue.”

TOP QUALITY ALWAYS SELLS
Investing in the exceptional is a good business strategy to weather the economic crisis, hails Pinella Autore, Australia Pearls (3.1, D41). “We’ve always had the tendency to go for the different and extraordinary, but we made the decision to focus our efforts entirely on exceptional pieces – top qualities, large strands, unusual material – even during a crisis period when many backed off from buying. We feel our choice was the right one. We are quite optimistic. Business for us has been very good.”
If you consider what you would spend on a fine, top quality gemstone, Autore believes customers get the best bang for the buck with exceptional pearls. “They give great value for the investment.”
Alain Boite (3.1, D25) concurs and reports strong business at Baselword for these pieces, with top quality white classic round South Sea strands and large pairs for earrings among his bestsellers. Boite also is featuring some amazing cultured pearls, including fine, large nucleated freshwater pearls from China in luscious natural colours like grape and peach; golden cultured pearls from a new production in Indonesia that are heart-shaped (great for earrings, pendants and rings), mixed colour strands in South Sea and Chinese freshwater pearls, and some spectacular large Baroque pearls, and an impressive pair of Australian white pearls at 22 mm and 27 mm in size. Vecht notes great interest this year in a collection of really fine natural colour green Tahitian pearls he has at the show, as well as some outstanding 19 mm loose Tahitian pearls.

THE CHALLENGES
Of course, Boite says that finding the best-of-the-best is no easy task, noting that some of his magnificent strands took a year or more to put together. With that said, Autore cites the second challenge is educating consumers, as well as those in the trade how these exceptional pieces come to market.
“People don’t realise how difficult it is to find and put together something exceptional in pearls,” Autore says. “Lack of knowledge and misinformation is a problem. We partner with our customers to help them relate this information and present pearls in the most effective way. For our good customers, we do bespoke services to make it easy for them to buy and sell pearls.”
For Autore, the pearl origin doesn’t matter much, it’s all about the lustre and quality. From big golden and white pearls to new production of Chinese nucleated pearls in amazing natural colours, “we look for pearls that speak to us.”

Colour of the Year 2016

Fresh summer breeze Pantone announces that two colours will share the title “Colour of the Year 2016” Sutra Jewels / Diamond and amethyst feather earrings It has never happened before: for 2016, the internationally acclaimed Pantone Color Institute has named two colours “Colour of the Year”. With the warm pink hue “Rose Quartz” and the cooler sky-blue “Serenity”, two pastel shades are blended into a single flowing colour gradient, a gentle, harmonious counterpoint to the stresses of everyday life. In this combination, both nuances act like a fresh summer breeze, spreading the power of tranquillity. But the colours are far from appearing naive or even twee. Instead, the pastel duo has a timeless effect in both fashion and jewellery, highlighting the beauty of women of all ages. Jewellery designers have been inspired by the two Pantone colours to rediscover coloured stones such as amethyst or blue chalcedony. Aquamarine, pink sapphire, opal, morganite and pink-coloured freshwater pearls have a strong radiant energy that has a particularly flattering effect in combination with pink or yellow gold.

Importance of Self Certified Gemstones

Importance of Self Certified Gemstones

Understanding Gemstone Certification

Certified gemstonesGemstone certification means to evaluate or authenticate a piece of stone on the basis of different quality parameter’s set and established by gemstone industry to determine the quality, origin, variety & species of various gemstones. A gemologist (gem expert) has been appointed to precisely examine or measure the minor details of the gemstone and issue a detailed report based upon the conclusion derived from the test conducted on the gemstone. This report is referred as certification or authentication report. A gemstone certification report incorporates all measurements and test conducted on a gemstone by a gemologist to certify.

Importance of Gemstone Certification
With large numbers of fake or unethical gemstone dealer dealing in simulants, fake or synthetic gemstones, gemstone certification has become the most important factor in gemstone industry. In order to stop such unethical practice, its always advisable to demand for a gemstone certificate or authentication report where the entire details of the test conducted for its identification is mentioned along with the photograph of the gemstone and its internal inclusion is mentioned.
Certified gemstonesHence, a gemstone certification report discloses minute details about a gemstone. Thus, a customer who wants to purchase a gemstone should optfor those dealers who offer gemstone certification along with gemstones.

Conclusion
Gemstone Certificate
It's highly recommended to buy your gemstones from a shop which issues a self certification compared to the shop which issues any third party certification, because the liability of any third party institute or gemologist is only limited to the amount charged by them for issuing of certificate as well as at times it's difficult to trace the third party location as seen in various problems.Normally most of the dealers would end up promoting third party certificate so that they are not answerable to any sort of liability.

Hence, it is advised to buy a self certified gemstone because it is being analyzed by a trained gemstone expert who is also the trader and fully responsible for the certificate issued. Secondly always demand for the certified gemstones with inclusion pattern for the transparent gemstones as these details are basically lacked by any ordinary laboratories.

Mahavir Gems deals in self certified gemstones and the certificate are furnished with the picture of the gemstones along with the picture of the inclusions detected on the gemstone.

Freshwater Cultivated Pearl 4.50 Carats

Freshwater Cultivated Pearl 4.50 Carats

A beautiful 4.50 Carats / 4.95 Ratti  /  13.20 Chav undrilled freshwater cultivated Natural Pearl.
Button Shaped,

For centuries, pearls have always been a symbol of peace, beauty and purity. Today, they are regarded as both classic and contemporary, coming in many more fashionable styles than your mother’s traditional strands or necklace of pearls.
Natural Pearls — are extremely rare. Historically, many were found in the Persian Gulf; unfortunately, today, most have already been harvested. You may be able to purchase small, natural pearls, but they will be costly.
Pearls have been known for their healing properties for centuries, particularly in traditional Asian medical systems. In these cultures, “medicine” deals with more than just physical ailments and cures, and substances like gold, silver and pearl powder are believed to have effects both physically and metaphysically.
Modern science has not discovered anything magical about pearls, but this does nothing to diminish their stature in people’s eyes. Pearls are said to give the wearer a sense of calmness and centeredness, and to promote faith, loyalty, truth and purity. They can especially enhance personal integrity. They have also been used in a number of cultures to help women connect with their “inner goddesses” and obtain the ultimate “feminine energy.”
Pearls have been used throughout medical history to help treat disorders of the digestive tract, muscular systems and the skin. Powders and potions containing pearls have also been developed to aid in fertility, as well as in easing the discomforts of the birthing process. Many cultures and societies have made similar claims for this lustrous gem.
The Chinese, for example, have depended on the healing properties of the pearl for centuries. They have used it to treat everything from simple eye ailments to serious heart problems, bleeding, fever and indigestion. To this day, the Chinese still use pearl powder as a skin whitener and a cosmetic, as do many other people around the world. In fact, the pearl is widely considered to be effective in controlling the skin conditions rosacea and acne.
Due to these natural properties, as well as its elegance and beauty, the pearl has been associated through the ages with the “matrix of life” itself. Proponents allege that the pearl helps to balance the human body’s natural rhythms and hormone levels with lunar cycles. There are also those that claim that the pearl can bring inner wisdom and help to strengthen and nurture the growth of love. Pearls are thought by others to have very strong “magnetic” powers and have been used in “gem therapy” to strengthen nerves, the adrenal glands, the spleen and muscle tissue.
The pearl’s magical properties are said to allow a person to open up and find the meaning and the purpose of one’s “true self.” They are believed to enlighten the mind and inspire the mood, while helping the wearer to learn to love herself more and, in turn, help her love others more, as well. True or not, these are wonderful and inspiring thoughts to share with the world, and the pearl can help the wearer project any and all of these mystical traits in a practical way, by focusing the mind on these positive attributes, real or not. Pearls are not just gems. They are a veritable storehouse of good will and positive, uplifting feelings. The real magic is in beholding their beauty and seeing them as reminders of “all things good and true.” Now, doesn’t that sound like a gem worth wearing?
